Spring break is right around the corner. Luckily future residents of Flora will enjoy an array of attractions, lakes, parks, and more that promise family fun. Take a look:
Kalahari Indoor Water Park
It might be too cool for Typhoon Texas, located less than 10 miles away, but the weather is always fine for Kalahari Indoor Water Park — and it’s even closer to Flora! Dive into 223,000 square feet of water fun, with a variety of slides and pools for all ages. You can even test your surfing skills on the FlowRider, a five-foot wave simulator.
Best Clucking Place Farm
Almost extinct in the 1970s, Kunekune pigs are alive and well at Best Clucking Place Farm in Hutto. You can go on a private tour to meet the pigs up close, give them belly rubs (we hear they love that), and feed treats to them and the other farm animals. The farm is stroller- and wheelchair-accessible.
Park It In Hutto
Fish, hike, and play your way through a variety of Hutto city parks. Creekside Park has a playground and picnic sites, and Adam Orgain Park gives you access to Brushy Creek and has several pavilions for gatherings. Play basketball or play on the playground at Hutto Community Park. More basketball courts are at Hutto Lake Park, as well as a boat launch dock and picnic sites.
Nearby Lakes
Hutto’s Hill Country location gives you access to several nearby lakes and waterways. Fish, canoe, and picnic at Granger Lake, located less than 30 minutes away. Three of the parks there also allow overnight camping. Head to the dam for a picturesque 3.4-mile easy hike. It’s a favorite among bird watchers.
More fishing, hiking, and camping can be found at Lake Georgetown, a 1,200-acre lake that is less than 25 miles away. Paddle your way across the lake or race over the water on skis. The lake also offers some of the region’s best fishing. The parks at Lake Georgetown offer 16 miles of hiking trails and opportunities for RV, tent, and primitive camping.
Explore Austin
Reserve at least one day of spring break for exploring Austin. Tour the capitol (no need to tell the kiddos it’s educational), see the big cats at the Austin Zoo or visit the children’s museum — there’s plenty to do. Rather spend all your time outside? Zilker Park is a favorite, with a spring-fed swimming pool, sculpture garden, and botanical garden. T-rex fans will enjoy the life-sized dinosaur sculptures and fossilized dinosaur tracks at the prehistoric garden. You can even tour the park on a miniature train.
Your Home Base
Flora is the perfect home base for adventures in Hutto and beyond. All model homes are now open, offering homes priced from the $300s. Under construction is The Market Square, an amenity center with places to gather, play, and relax. It’s sure to be a prime destination for Flora residents next spring break!
